Planning a Wedding on a Small Budget

Wedding can be one of the biggest expenses. No wonder wedding services is a multi-billion industry in the United States. That's why if you want to have a wedding of your dreams and keep the cost much lower than average wedding cost you need to pay close attention to the wedding planning process, especially the budget planning.

There is number of expenses involved in every wedding. By cutting the cost for each one you can save considerable amount of money. So here is the list of expenses and how you can make the cost lower for each of them.

Reception Venue
If you plan ahead what type of reception site you want then it can save you money and effort. There are number of options that can allow you have a reception for very low cost.

a) Reception in the Park. You don't have to worry about the decorations. It's already beautiful. The things to consider are time of the year and weather.

b) Backyard of your (or someone else's) home. This option the cheapest one especially if the food is prepared by you and/or by the family members. Things that need to be planed are renting tables, chairs and silverware.

c) In the church. It can be convenient to have a reception at the same church. Many churches are quite spacious to accept many guests. You will need to think about the decorations to make the feel of your wedding nicer.

Food
There are also numbers of options for food at the reception that will cost you much less. First of all you need to decide on the time of the day for reception. These are some general guidelines:

a) Morning wedding (before 11 am) - Breakfast of Breakfast buffet
b) Midday weeding (11 am to 1 pm) - Luncheon buffet
c) Afternoon wedding (1 to 4 pm) - Cake and punch.
d) Early evening wedding(4 to 7 pm) - Dinner buffet
f) Evening wedding (after 7 pm) - Cake and punch.

It is obvious that Afternoon and evening weddings will require much less than others for reception food.

Wedding Attire
Bride's suit is among the highest expenses in the wedding budget. Therefore it should be considered carefully before buying. Do not go ahead and buy it immediately after you got engaged. Some patience can save you a lot of money. These are some options for you to consider.

a) Buy discount. It is a huge market. Discount market even includes factory outlets. Such factory outlets like The Gunne Sax have even a separate building for wedding attire.

b) Buy Prom or Special Occasion dress. If you look at such dresses you will see that with some little alterations you can convert it into a nice wedding dress.

c) Bridesmaid's dress in white. You probably will be surprised that sometimes bridal salon staff may sell you bridesmaid's dress in white or ivory as a wedding dress. It even has a train but if you want you can make a longer train.

Choosing Your Wedding Dress

If you grew up like I did with a romantic vision of what my wedding should be like, then no matter how many questions there are to ask yourself, you're sure of one thing, it needs to be perfect. Nowadays not everyone appears as concerned about finding the perfect dress, but for most of us - deep inside - it really does matter.
As soon as you begin planning or the big day, choosing your wedding dress becomes an urgent need for most brides. Nobody wants to wait. While dealing with wedding stress and preparations, be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to try on different styles and find the one who says "you".

The theme of your wedding will be an important point when selecting that special dress. Are you getting married on the beach? If so, you might choose a light airy style. Have you decided on a formal affair? Then by all means, go all out and wear a white dress covered in silk and lace. Whatever type of occasion your wedding will be, your dress will play one of the most important roles in it!

It's also important to think about the month and season you are getting married in. If you are having a middle of summer wedding, then you probably shouldn't wear a wedding dress with double layers or long sleeves. After all, this is supposed to be the most memorable day of your beginning together. You don't want the biggest memory to be how much you sweated through the whole ceremony!
When choosing a wedding dress, try on comfortable styles. Walk around in them, if kneeling is part of your ceremony, then kneel in the dress. You need to certain that you will be comfortable in your choice. The beauty of the dress is only half of your decision - the other half is looking beautiful, happy and elegant. And you won't look - or be - happy if you are holding your breath so seams do not pop or you're itchy from the lace on your arms.
One mistake that a lot of brides tend to make when choosing a wedding dress is with the size. If you are planning on losing weight before your big day, do not buy a dress the size you think you may be come the wedding day. Instead buy the size you are on the day you choose the dress. It will always be easier to take a dress in if it is too big. It's an awful job trying to add material for a dress that ended up being too small.
With the expense of weddings, some couples try and cut back by making their own flowers, having a family member bake the wedding cake or hiring a friend to take wedding photos. Although it is okay to cut back and still have your dream wedding, don't skimp when choosing your wedding dress. If you cannot afford to hit a wedding boutique and pay their prices, try wedding consignment shops, who offer 'like new' dresses at an affordable price. Remember too that there are many discount wedding dress shops.
Whatever style, color or price range you eventually decide on when choosing your wedding dress, don't forget that it's you your fiancé fell in love with, not your dress. The dress adds to the ambiance of the day, but it isn't the real centerpiece.
After you have chosen your wedding dress hang it in the bag it comes in and don't show it to everybody. Give guests something to look forward to when they see you for the first time walking down the aisle. And unless it is truly unavoidable, don't let your future husband see your dress at all before the wedding. They say it's bad luck and even if that's just a superstition, it certainly does spoil his surprise!

Christmas Prom 3

The Beaded Dress

Beaded dresses are a great way to add a bit of sparkle and are great for a special occasion or a Christmas party. Choose from coloured beading for a really eye catching look or black for a slightly more subtle look. Keep jewellery to a minimum with a beaded dress as you do not want to look like a Christmas tree (even at Christmas).

The Asymmetrical Dress

The asymmetrical dress is another key trend for 2008, it usually has only one sleeve or shoulder and is often Grecian or draped style. This style of dress looks great either long or short and should be teamed with a simple pendant necklace if any so as not to interfere with the look of the neckline.

The Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses were around last year and were very popular. This year they are back again with many formal styles which are great for proms, parties and balls. This is a great style of dress for those that don't want to show off their legs or at occasions where it may inappropriate. Unless you are very tall be careful not to choose a maxi dress with too much volume in the skirt.

The Little Black Dress

The little black dress is a classic party dress made popular by both Coco Chanel and the classic film breakfast at Tiffanys. These days the term can mean anything from a beaded mini dress to a classic style shift dress. The popularity of the little black dress is probably due to its versatility and ability to flatter most figures. The little black dresses for Autumn and Winter 2008 can encompass many of the other key trends including the asymmetrical dress, prom dress, mini dress, lace dress or beaded dress.

What ever party, prom or ball dress you choose make sure that you have a great time!

Plus Size Wedding Dresses

Not everyone wants a formal wedding. So, if you are a full-figured bride who plans on a more casual event, one of the first tasks on your "to do" list will be shopping for a plus size informal wedding dress.

Exactly what form that dress takes will have a lot to do with the exact location and theme of your wedding. In fact, some brides may not end up in dresses at all. If you are planning to skydive while taking your vows, for example, a dress might not be the best option. On the other hand, a beach or back yard wedding is perfectly suited to a casual gown.

Why an Informal Wedding?

The best answer to that question is: Why not? Large, formal weddings are expensive, and take a long time to plan and execute effectively (most people work on them for a year or more). A relaxed wedding takes the stress levels for your special day down several notches. Additionally casual weddings are a fantastic option for the "second time around" couple, for people who decide to get married spontaneously, and for smaller gatherings.

Informal Wedding Dress Benefits:

In thinking about your plus size wedding dress, you will be pleased to know that this dress need not be a one-occasion deal. Most full figured casual wedding dresses are made so they could be worn to other similar events without screaming "wedding dress." There are truly a lot of options from which to choose, including non-traditional colors and shorter lengths.

Additionally informal wedding dresses come "ready to wear" - meaning you will not have to wait 10 weeks for a bridal shop to get your order into the shop.

Where to Shop:

A bride on a budget will be very happy because she can find a full-sized casual wedding dress in stores OTHER than expensive bridal shops. Your favorite local department store is one place to check, but do not forget about consignment stores or antique shops. A few decades ago women were NOT all size two! Vintage pieces have a romantic, nostalgic appeal, and can offer you a distinctive look for your wedding day. There is also a fabulous selection available online.

You can shop online but be aware that so doing increases the chances that you may have to either exchange the dress or have it altered to fit since you cannot try it on in person. Note, however, that this type of inconvenience may be highly offset by a good price tag. Take your measurements before ordering a dress online. That will eliminate some potential mishaps.

Finishing Touches:

Once you have found a dress that accents your curves in all the right ways and is practical for your wedding day activities, the next step is rounding out your ensemble. Most casual brides do not wear veils, but flowers are another matter.
A daisy or snippet of baby's breath is visually appealing without being "over the top." Additionally consider some simple but classic jewelry - be it a bracelet, necklace or other rings besides your engagement ring.

Summary:

A plus size informal wedding dress should not prove too difficult to find at a price you can afford. What is most important is that you like the way you look and feel when wearing this dress (it is going to be a long day, even at a casual event). Give yourself a little time to shop around so that you find a style that is in keeping with your wedding, and a dress that you can wear again if you so choose.
