The Tips, How Finding the Perfect Wedding Dress and Gowns

Wedding Dress Bargain Hunting Tips

1 Off Season
As the wedding season winds down in November is the perfect time of the year to purchase sample gowns (gowns that have been tried on before in the store), discontinued gowns or cancelled/abandoned gowns (cancelled weddings, abandoned deposits) at a discounted rate. Check with bridal shops to see if they have a selection of sample dresses for sale. Sample gowns generally are size 10 and will need to be professionally cleaned before wearing, but the savings can be significant and well worth the cleaning cost.

2 Check the Web
Some wedding dress websites feature overstock or sample dresses that can be purchased for a fraction of the retail price. Most of these shops will professionally clean the dress to ensure that it is in great condition before sending to you.

3 Discount Websites
If you have found the designer and style of dress that you want to purchase, you can find online websites selling wedding dresses at a discounted price. These online businesses can provide a discount (approx 25% vs bridal store prices) because they are strictly an online business and do not have the overhead of running a store front bridal store. We would caution you to make sure the online business is an authorized dealer of the designer. You can usually find a list of authorized dealers on the designer's website. Also, know your size before making your purchase
.

4 Trunk Shows
Look for trunk shows of your favorite designer. Not only is this a great opportunity to see and try on the collection of gowns for this designer, but bridal shops often offer a small discount on this designer's dresses (learn about trunk shows).

5 Bridal Outlet Stores
Outlet stores generally carry overstock, discontinued (older designs from previous seasons) or lesser known designers for a discounted price. This is a great place to find a dress but temper your excitement with the understanding that outlet stores have limited styles and finding the ideal dress may be difficult.

6 Consignment Bridal Boutiques
These stores have gained popularity over the years and is another option for finding a dress at a discounted price. Dresses in consignment boutiques are (overstocked) or previously worn dresses that are loaned to the store for a set period of time until the dress sells. The stores take a percentage of the selling price.
