Perhaps you and your bridesmaids are taking over the hair salon for the all important do or you have enlisted the services of a professional hair stylist come to you on your wedding day.
Either way make sure you have a good idea of what hairstyle you will be wearing long before the morning of your wedding.
The best way to eliminate the chance of wedding hair tears is to have a practice run particularly if you are wearing a hairstyle that you have never worn before. Most of us have had at least one scary hair day at the hairdresser, don't let your wedding day be one of those!!
Test drive your hairstyle
Have the trial in the morning and wear the hairstyle for the whole day. At the end of the day assess the hairstyle and make sure you are really happy with it and feel comfortable wearing the style.
Wearing your hairstyle all day will give you a good idea of any maintenance you may need to do to keep it looking gorgeous even after the one hour wedding ceremony, two hour photo shoot and five hour reception.
Tell your hairdresser all about the wedding day. The time wedding ceremony starts and the time your anticipate on retiring for the night.
Discuss details of your weddings location. Will you be on the beach, in a church, at a park or on a boat. Will you be having your reception at an indoor or outdoor venue. Will you be travelling between the ceremony venue and reception venue in a car, on foot or in a carriage behind a horse!!
What to bring with you to your trial
Bring in an image of your wedding dress, preferably with you in it. Make sure your hair stylist knows all about your dress and your bridesmaids dresses. The colour, the style, the flowers in your bouquet, the veil (long or short), will you be wearing the veil all day or only for the ceremony.
If possible bring in whatever hair pieces you will wear or are considering to wear in your hair - the tiara, the veil, hair clips or hair jewels, flowers or feathers.
A good hairstylist will be able to recommend styles to suit the dress as well as your face and might have some interesting wedding hair accessories you had never considered.
At the trial give your hair stylist some guidance and also take on board any advice they may have. Bring in images of styles you like and styles you don't like.
Let the hair stylist know whether you want to look different to the way you normally look. For example are you thinking of a braided up style when you have only ever worn your hair long and ironed straight.
Take photos of your hair style from the front, back and sides to get an idea of how it looks at all angles.
If you really don't gel (....sorry couldn't resist) with the hair stylist at the trial and don't like what they have done, find someone else.
